[This is part five of an analysis of the The Science of Getting Rich by Wallace Wattles]

Chapter 12 of the Science of Getting Rich focuses on the actions and mindset of how one should approach thoughts to riches. This is one of my personal favorite chapters since it brings to light what is missed by other books that talk about the power of thoughts and the laws of attraction. It focuses us to the seemingly trivial acts that we do every day.

Wallace states:

The world is advanced only by those who more than fill their present places.

This means those who believe in the power of creative thought must make the most of every day. At the least, people must take at least one action that is related to what’s in their minds. If more than one action can be done, that’s even better.

This small action is then considered whether it is successful or not. Think of work done in terms of each passing day. Think of the morning - imagine what needs to be done to fulfill your thoughts. At the end of each day, evaluate it. Was it successful in terms of moving you towards achieving your dreams or not?

The question is “What will you do today that will take you a step closer to your goals?” So you want a new car, or a new house, or more money - what seemingly trivial action will you take that will lead you to this goal? Look at car or house brochures? Look at loans? Find ways to make more money effectively?

Wallace also indicates that people must not overwork. There is another way to approach work:

It is really not the number of things you do, but the EFFICIENCY of each separate action that counts.

This makes us realize that we should leverage on each action you take. Exert a small amount of force that will be multiplied by technology, people or some other factor. One of the keys of the find this multiplying factor.

One example of a multiplying factor is television. Why are famous actors/actresses rich? They leverage on the power of mass media to become famous. Think of a famous actor - say Brad Pitt. Millions of people adore him. Americans follow his life closely. People follow what he says. He has influence over his fans.

With media as leverage, actors like him can make money from endorsements, movie royalties or music sales. Brad Pitt made a brand name for himself. Doing so allowed him to make money easier and faster.

This is the intelligent way to riches.

Going back to you and me. What action must we take to fulfill our dreams? We can leverage on the power of the internet and web marketing. For a relatively cheap advertising or effective brand marketing, our products and services can be popular.

That is the core message of Chapter 12. Find the leverage that will take you to your tipping point.
